You Season 4: Release Date On Netflix & SPOILERS Everything We Know So Far
May 19, 2022 By adminYou season three landed on Netflix in October 2021, but the streamer had already renewed the stalker series for season four before the third season even dropped. So prepare for Joe Goldberg to get into even more trouble. Best thing about it? This time he’s going international.
“Reading Caroline Kepnes’ novel, [showrunner] Greg [Berlanti] and I were instantly obsessed with Joe Goldberg and his twisted world view,” said executive producer Sera Gamble on the show’s renewal.
“And it’s been thrilling to watch Penn [Badgley] bring Joe to creepy yet compelling life. We’re deeply grateful that Netflix has shown You such monumental support, and that people around the world have enjoyed watching Joe really get it all very wrong over the past three seasons. The whole You team is excited to explore new, dark facets of love in season four.”
So what’s to come for our serial-killer bookkeeper? Here’s everything you need to know.
You Season 4 Release Date
Filming on You season 4 began in March 2022 and production is expected to wrap in July. Season 3 premiered in October 2021, with filming wrapping in April – if a similar timeline is used for season 4, we can expect a premiere date sometime in February 2023.
You Season 3 Cast
Penn Badgley will return as Joe Goldberg and Tati Gabrielle is back as Marienne, the object of his obsession in season 3 – although it’s not been confirmed in what capacity her character will return.
The rest of the main cast is made up of new additions. First up is Euphoria’s Lukas Gage who plays Adam, a wealthy ex-pat American who continually fails to meet the standards of his successful family.
Feel Good star Charlotte Ritchie is Kate, an art gallery director who’s fiercely loyal and suspicious of those who aren’t her friends. Tilly Keeper is Lady Phoebe, Kate’s best friend – she’s wealthy and famous but very trusting, so she tends to attract people who take advantage of her.
Amy-Leigh Hickman is Nadia, an outspoken literature student and aspiring author who needs help covering up some past mistakes that threaten to destroy her life. And, finally, Ed Speleers is Rhys, an irreverent author with a troubled youth whose memoir propelled him into the limelight.
Additionally, Niccy Lin, Aidan Cheng, Stephen Hagan, Ben Wiggins, Eve Austin, Ozioma Whenu, Dario Coates, Sean Pertwee, Brad Alexander, Alison Pargeter, and Adam James have also been cast in recurring roles.
You Season 4 Plot
Joe, as we said, is now in Paris after murdering Love who, to be fair to him, tried to slit his throat first. But once again, he managed to wriggle out of that predicament and free himself from the shackles of marriage.
The only downside was handing over his son Henry to their neighbour Dante and his husband, knowing this was ultimately in Henry’s best interests. (We can’t say he’s wrong.)
Sera Gamble spoke about how Joe’s abandoning of Henry could play into the next season.
She told E! News: “You can’t pretend something that huge about a character didn’t happen. I think it will shape him from this moment forward. And even his exact plan of when and if he would return for his son is something that we will… come together and talk about for hours and hours and hours between snacks.”
In the meantime, he has travelled to the French capital to find Marienne and given his aptitude for stalking, Joe is bound to seek her out. But he’s supposed to be dead after being slain by Love and baked into a pie, which should make for an interesting conversation between the pair when they eventually come face to face, especially given that Love revealed some disturbing home truths about Joe to Marienne.
“I think if Joe finds [her], he’ll live happily ever after and have beautiful babies,” Badgley joked in an interview with TV Line. “He’ll learn to speak French, he’ll become a writer, they’ll spend a lot of time along the Seine and they’ll send their kids to school in Sweden.
“No, I think Joe will remain the same. Someone this profoundly ill, disturbed, traumatised and violent has a serious hurdle before them if they’re ever going to heal and change. I don’t know if it’s possible for someone who’s that far gone.”
We should add that there’s no official word at the moment on whether we’ll see Gabrielle’s character in the future. Maybe, just maybe, she’s escaped him for good.
Chatting to The Wrap about how she thinks this could all play out if Marienne does return, Gabrielle said: “I don’t think that Marienne would go back [to Joe], like, definitely not. Though, I do think she would award him a conversation.
“Because, again, her heart was played with, for one. And I think for her own healing, she needs a freakin’ conversation, she needs to hear it from his mouth… I think it will give her a sense of peace… And I really want Marienne to like expose Joe, as well. I want that. Just, yes, I need that.”
History strongly implies that death awaits her, but could we see the tables turned in season four, with Joe’s luck finally running out?
“The most important thing about that last scene [in season two, when Joe is spying on his neighbour Natalie (RIP) through the gap in the fence] is it is confirmation that Joe is still Joe in a way that’s not going to be great for Joe,” Gamble told The Hollywood Reporter. “That he has not learned that he cannot just keep looking for the next person to attach his hopes and dreams to that way.
“Things won’t go well for Joe.”
Is there any Trailer yet?
The trailer for season 3 was released around a month before the new episodes arrived on Netflix, so we’ll likely have a while to wait until we get a full-length trailer for You season 4. If your prediction of a February release date is correct, you should keep an eye out in January 2023.
